This Hospital was built in the seventies of
the last century, just before the beginning
of the civil war in Lebanon. The Hospital
was named after the late Dr. Monzer El Hajj
who was preparing himself to run the
hospital, but died early of liver cancer.
The Hospital was established by an NGO
called "Good Deed"
From the year 1974, and till the year 2007,
the hospital was functioning normally and
provided good services to the population of
the town and the surrounding area. During
that period there were about 35 patient
beds, one emergency unit, one operating
theatre, pre-delivery and delivery room .The
diagnostic services constituted from an
imaging unit with x ray machine and a simple
laboratory.
In the year 2007, and due to the
introduction of the accreditation system of
the Lebanese hospitals, the hospital could
not meet the requirements of the set
standards and was closed. An extension was
added in the year early eighties but was
never used.
An agreement was reached between the "Good
Deed" NGO & the Company "Abou Shakra
Properties" Where the outcome of the
agreement gives privilege to "Abou Shakra
Properties" to run the hospital for a period
of 15 years under a new management
